Fairytales & Free Will

I think that one of the largest misconceptions about God is that, if you believe in Him all of your dreams will come true. That, in a sense there is this magic genie up in the sky that nods his head and fulfills all of your desires instantly and without question. -Just sign here on the dotted line. More than that, I think people often turn from God after having this false expectation that everything in life relies solely on His power and will. That financial struggle, physical pain, loss, and sorrow are all a direct result of God and that there is nothing you can do to change it.

I'm here to say that God does not grant wishes. If He did, I believe I would own a Harley. God did however, grant us free will. There in lies the problem. Free will allows us to have the opportunity to sin. Without sin there would be no pain. However, without free will there is no choice. We would be little army men that God took off of a shelf. Figures, moved and manipulated without any comprehension as to why or what we are doing. Instead, He loved us and gave us the option to love him back. God may know what path you are going to choose before you do it - but He still wants you to be the one to choose it. So yes, you have the opportunity to choose the wrong path. Everyone in existence does....and it shows. Ever heard the saying "bad things happen to good people" well that's because even if you are following as closely to God as you can, other people still have the option to get in your way. Its not because God viciously condemned you. Its because He loves us, all of us, and without sin -you wouldn't have the choice to love him back.

Unified, Consistent, & Coherent Scripture: The Will and Mercy of God

The Bible is comprised of sixty-six books. It was written by approximately forty different authors over the span of 1500 plus years. The diversity of the authors ranges from shepherds to kings, all from different tribes and nations. There is over 2,000 miles between some of the locations in which the books were written.  Despite all these factors, the Bible offers a unified and coherent message throughout the entirety of scripture. It focuses on one theme: That there is a God and that He has provided redemption for His creation, ultimately through the death of Jesus Christ. Regardless of writer, location, time or topic, the Bible offers a consistent viewpoint throughout its various phases. For example, when considering the will and mercy of God, one can examine scripture and find these topics revealed throughout His creation, within His grace for fallen man, in His provided redemption, and His ultimate goal for our restoration. The very first words found in the Bible are “In...

The Biblical Worldview According to Romans

When you look up at stars and the vastness of creation, what do you see? Do you see a divinely created universe? Do you see a natural phenomenon? When you morn the loss of a love one, where did they go? Are they reincarnated? Are they in heaven? When you are searching for comfort, where do you turn? Do you turn to God? To most, these are some of life’s biggest questions. Questions like these shapes how one perceives and relates to the world around them. The answers to these questions can be found by first examining the lens in which an individual chooses to view the world through- their worldview. While many of these questions seem improbable to answer, the simple truth of the matter is that the Bible answers them all. In his letter to the Romans, Paul gives a very systematic approach to the Gospel of Jesus and addresses some of these fundamental questions regarding life and the Biblical Worldview. God: First and foremost, Paul contests to the existence and character of God whi...
